“Y” sa Mata

“Alam niyo, mahal na mahal kayo ni Yeng.”
“Masmahal namin si Yeng!”
Ano nga ba ang ibig sabihin ng pagiging “Yengster”? Paano nga ba ito nabuo? Sino sino ba ang bumubuo ng grupong ito? At paano mo ba malalaman kung ang isang tao ay matatawag mong Yengster?
Simple lang naman ang ibig sabihin ng Yengsters. Kayang kaya ko nga sabihin sa tatlong salita eh: “Adik Kay Yeng”. Pero ipaliwanag pa rin natin ng mahaba-haba para naman matawag na “blog” Itong ginawa ko. Ang Yengsters ay isang grupo ng mga taong sumusuporta kay Yeng sa anumang mapagdaanan niya sa buhay, tagumpay man o kabiguan. Sila yung mga taong kinikilala siya bilang inspirasyon, ate, kaibigan, at syempre, idol. Sila yung mga taong nirerespeto siya bilang kaibigan, at bilang artista.
At sila yung mga taong mahal si Yeng.
Paano nga ba nabuo ang Yengsters? Simple lang, dahil kay Yeng. Nagsimula ang grupo dahil sa pagpunta ng bawat isa sa mga gigs, shows, concerts, mall tours, etc. hanggang sa makilala nila ang isa’t isa. Dahil sa pagsuporta kay Yeng, nabuo ang samahang walang kapantay. Samahang mas-tumitibay pa sa pagdaan ng panahon. Samahang hindi matitibag anumang pagsubok ang dumating.
Samahang may mga miyembrong mahal ang isa’t isa.
Sabi ko nga kanina, ang mga Yengsters ay mga taong mahal si Yeng. Sila yung mga taong gagawin lahat para lang maging masaya si Yeng. Sila yung mga taong gagawin lahat para lang makapunta sa gigs. Walang pera? Bumabagyo? Gagabihin? Masyadong malayo? Hindi alam papunta? Sus. Wala ‘yan sa kanila. Pupunta at pupunta sila hangga’t pwede. Kahit hindi alam kung paano umuwi. =))
Gagawin lahat, masuportahan lang si Yeng.
Susuportahan nila si Yeng ng walang hinihintay na kapalit. Kasi para sa kanila, makita lang si Yeng, masaya na. Wagas na kaligayahan.
Sila rin yung mga taong kahit ilang beses nang nakita si Yeng, parang first time pa rin. Lalo na pag kinausap sila. Tulala, speechless… In short, starstruck. Sila yung mga taong nirerespeto si Yeng. Alam nila ang limitasyon nila. Gaano man sila ka-close kay Yeng, hindi pa rin nila nakakalimutan na, “Ay, si Yeng Constantino nga pala ‘to.”
Kung titignan siguro ng ibang tao itong blog na ‘to, siguro sasabihin nila, “Grabe ang hirap naman maging Yengster.” Pero kung isa kang Yengster, “Weh mahirap ba ‘yun??”
Kung isa kang Yengster, walang mahirap, basta para kay Yeng.
Minsan, sa unang “pag-aadik” pa lang ng isang Yengster, makikita mo na agad yung kislap sa mga mata niya. Bihira lang yung mga taong may “Y” sa mata. Ako? Hindi ko nga alam kung may “Y” ako sa mata nung unang pag-aadik ko. Basta alam ko lang, mahal ko si Yeng.
Ikaw? May “Y” ka ba sa mata?

UMALAB KA BY SESA MUSIC VIDEO
Here's the latest and the very first music video from Acel van Ommen and our PopRock Princess' promising all girl band SESA.
About the video:
This music video is a brand new song by Acel Van Ommen performed by her and Yeng Constantino's new band, Sesa. This is their band's first single, which they wrote as a rallying cry to the Filipino youth.
What's even more exciting is that Sesa gave LifeBox the rights to use "Umalab Ka" for our upcoming Ignite 2011 LifeBox Campus Conference on May 26-28!

[ARTICLE] Yeng Constantino admits she almost gave up on showbiz

Yeng Constantino’s has just added a bunch of new trophies in her wall of achievements. Last March the singer/songwriter bagged five wins from the MYX Music Awards 2011, namely Favorite Artist, Favorite MYX Celebrity VJ, Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Music Video (for her song Jeepney Love Story), and Favorite Collaboration for her work in the song “Kung Wala Na Nga” with rock band 6cyclemind and Kean Cipriano.
But making music is not always filled with praise and recognition. In her interview with Chalk Magzine which features her as cover of its May issue, the 22-year-old confessed getting heartbroken when her debut album released in 2006 following her win in Pinoy Dream Academy, was bashed by critics and they commented that her music was bland, the songs were interchangeable, there was nothing to look forward to, and that she’ll be a one-hit wonder.
“Masakit,” Yeng looked back on the criticisms. “I learned that the comments of the people I love are more important than what other people say. It’s good to listen to critics because there things in what they say that can help you, but you have to sift through.”
She pondered if she made the right decision of pursuing her dream of making music but before she could call it quits, she realized that even before the harsh criticisms, she had been a fighter and a survivor. Yeng talked to Chalk about the time when at the tender age of 14, she had to assume the role of a breadwinner to her family. She began playing for bands, but she didn’t feel bad. “I wanted to work for my family. I wanted to buy food for us. I love my family. When you love, you don’t ask questions.”
Almost five years after PDA, three studio albums and numerous hit original songs that followed, Yeng still looks forward to so many things as a musician. “I want to last long in the industry. I want to be like Gary Valenciano. And I want to do my passion until my last breath.”

Yeng Constantino takes a break from being a solo artist to venture into performing with a band. In her interview with Chalk Magazine for its May issue (incidentally where Yeng lands her first magazine cover ever), Yeng talked about her new band Sesa (short for ‘prinsesa.’) She shared one thing she learned from band mate Acel van Ommen (formerly of Moonstar 88 and now Sesa vocalist) which became the basis for the group’s name. “I shouldn’t settle for less than what God has set for me. Now I feel my worth as a woman, because I was created to be a princess.”
Sesa is comprised of five female members and has a strong alternative but still happy sound. Just like other famous girl groups like Destiny’s Child, TLC, and Spice Girls, Sesa will integrate the value of women empowerment in their music.
Though she is already an established solo performer, Yeng has decided to serve as just a guitarist in Sesa. “I’m happy to be a part of this group. My only prayer is that whatever may happen, we don’t lose our hearts. We want to focus on our purpose, which is to make and release songs na tatagos sa puso ng mga kabataan and that may change their decision for the future,” she said.
At 22-years-old and barely five years in the business, Yeng has already braved serving as producer and sort-of manager for Sesa, a job she described as hard but rewarding. “It’s hard because everything comes from my own pocket. But when you hear the final product, the weight of supporting the group seems to go away. This is like my love life. It’s the first thing that I think about in the morning and my last though before I sleep. I pray, ‘God, I’m really happy.’ When I wake up, we’ll record na!”
Their first single entitle “Umalab” is now available for free download on the band’s official website. Yeng told Chalk what the important message behind this song. “You know that spark? From that small spark, we can make a big fire. Whatever your passion is, work hard for it and don’t give up.”
