Yengsters... Miss niyo na din si Yeng noh? anyhow... lets just wait for her return from the Let's Rock Canada Tour.
Ok, this is an inspiring article about Yeng Constantino.
Yeng is indeed the definition of humility. :)
BEHIND-THE-SCENES WITH YENG CONSTANTINO

To be honest after Yeng Constantino recently won a whopping 5 MYX Awards I was tempted to write something to celebrate her artistry. The outcome of the said awards (which were based on text and online votes plus votes by music industry peers) further solidified her title as the country's reigning rock princess. True enough she is an artist to reckon with: An amazing composer who has a penchant for bringing to life catchy songs. An emerging fashion icon who is becoming known for her fresh, edgy looks. A powerful songstress whose voice echoes youthful fierceness minus the negativity.
Yet I'm drawn to write about the girl behind the rockstar. So far I've only worked with Yeng for I think less than a year but I would have to say I loved every moment of it.
I would like to share with you some of my personal behind the-scenes moments with Yeng:
After a show I remember Yeng luring us to join her in the room to have chitchat only to find out we're going to watch "Ang Dating Daan". I suspect she was sneakily trying to convert us so I foiled her plan. She became the butt of our jokes that night yet ironically we still ended up watching almost a full episode of the said show. Hahaha
At a bus before a concert, we played tic-tac-toe in her iPad. I remember being good at this game when I was in grade school so I know I have a good chance of beating her. But of course to test the competition I showed false humility... "Yeng Hindi ako Magaling dito ha" to which she replied "ako din kuya". Game after game she kept on winning and her usual script was "Hindi kuya chamba Lang". Lo and behold, After probably ten games... She won Nine. Behind the humble front was a deceiving tic-tac-toe expert.
Yeng had a gig at Sta.Rosa, Laguna that would start at 10am. Coming from a live shoot of ABSCBN's Music Uplate she won't have time to sleep in between gigs (by the way, lack of sleep before a performance to some singers can be synonymous to "vocal suicide". For some, It can also be used as a valid excuse to pull out the infamous "Diva" card). Yet she did not put up an attitude. On the contrary, by the time the she got on stage she turned the crowd upside down. She went to the far end of the street even climbed on top of an Innova just to connect with her audience. The mayor and all the organizers were surprised at her raw energy and sheer vocal strength. Honest to goodness, it was one of the best live performances I've ever seen in my life. Yet surprisingly after the show she was positively concerned about how coarse her voice sounded like. I was like "huh? we didn't even noticed". Interestingly, the sound of the roaring and approving crowd didn't even register in her head.
Afterwards, we impulsively decided to visit a nearby park where she rode the bicycle, fed the fishes and enjoyed a boat ride. The smile on her face that day was priceless. It's amazing to see this woman- who just hours ago held the multitudes at the palm of her hand- find greater joy in the simplest of things. Beneath the rockstar was a kid.
We were at our Cornerstone Party. It was a fun night. Yet deep inside I was in a difficult place. I was questioning the faith that grew up in. My view of life at that time wasn't particularly rosy. I was only watching all the others enjoy the night until Yeng came to my side. We started talking which eventually lasted for hours. She didn't give any prolific advice . There were no deep insights. We just shared our questions and frustrations. She just stayed with me and we vented together- and vented we did. It was fun and very much comforting but most importantly it was liberating.
I guess this is where her magic lies- be it in life or with her music. Her songs (Jeepney Lovestory, Salamat, Hawak Kamay, among many others) talk about people's heartaches and aspirations captured in lyrics and images taken from a uniquely Filipino point of view. As such (in much the same way as how she affected me at the party) Her music allows its listeners to be true to who they are, where they are... and at the same time inspires them to be more.
To be honest, dealing with high profile artists can be a tricky thing. Because of the nature of their work, sometimes it's hard to differentiate what's real and what's just PR. With Yeng, it was never an issue. Her honesty- which appears to be the core value affecting her every work of art- is simply a breath of fresh air.
It is indeed a pleasure being part of Yeng's management team but more so to be her fan. And in the sea of rising and falling stars, for me- and I say this with all bias possible- Siya Ang mananatiling "Reyna ng Gabi".

Ok just a random title post there.
Anyhoo, here's what i've got to say. Yeng is in Canada right now for some series of shows she have along with Jovit Baldivino. I'll post update soon here on my blog. I'm sorry if I kinda sucks on updating, well got stuck recently with an anime, a new light novel, and been busy hanging out with some summer time friends LOL.
That would be all I guess.

[ARTICLE]Yeng dominates MYX Music Awards 2011

MANILA, Philippines - Rockoustic singer Yeng Constantino was a big winner at the annual MYX Music Awards (MMA) 2011.
During the awarding ceremonies held at the Music Museum in Greenhills, San Juan on Tuesday night, the first Philippine Dream Academy (PDA) grand winner bagged a total of 6 major awards out of 7 nominations.
Constantino was named this year's Favorite Artist, Favorite MYX celebrity VJ and Favorite Female Artist. Her music video, "Jeepney Love Story," was hailed Favorite Music Video.
The 22-year-old singer's collaboration with rock band 6cyclemind and Kean Cipriano, "Kung Wala na Nga," was named Favorite Collaboration.
Holding back tears, Constantino expressed her gratitude to those who supported her.
"Ang saya-saya ko, salamat po sa lahat ng mga taong nagkagusto doon sa kantang ginawa ko.. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng bumoto, sa lahat ng nag-ubos ng baon nila, pati mga email address ng mga kaklase nila para iboto nila ako online, maraming salamat sa lahat," she said.
Black and White
With black and white as the motif for the evening, MYX, the No.1 music channel, convened the biggest names in the music scene in one spectacular event.
Showbiz royalties Karylle, Isabella Ledesma Gonzales, Elmo Magalona, Queenie Padilla, and Isabelle Daza were presenters of the night.
Music artists Gloc-9, Christian Bautista, brothers Champ and Chino Lui Pio and Yael and Yani Yuzon, "Coseplay Queen" Alodia Gosiengfiao and host-actor KC Montero were handed over the awards.
Rock bands Kamikazee and Parokya ni Edgar and rapper Gloc-9 set the stage on fire through their rendition of "Meron Akong Ano" as their tribute to the late master rapper, Francis Magalona.
A back-to-back performances from rock band Quest and electropop trio SomeDayDream also wowed the crowd.
A special citation was also awarded to Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid for her exemplary contributions in the music industry for more than 25 years.

It’s the rocker lady’s night!
OPM Star, Yeng Constantino is the Big Winner after bagging multiple awards in last night’s MYX Music Awards 2011 plus three major awards like, Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Song and Favorite Music Video for her song, Jeepney Long Story.
The 6th MYX Awards, like the usual is star-studded and showered with live performances from Pinoy Acts. It started with a medley of nominated song covers by different pop stars, Sam Concepcion, The Opera Belles, Sitti, Princess and others who performed Tanya Markova’s Disney, Parokya Ni Edgar’s Pakiusap Lang, 6CycleMind’s Kung Wala Na Nga, Yeng Constantino's Jeepney Love Story and a breathtaking cover of Slapshock’s Cariño Brutal by The Company.
Aside from the MYX VJ’s Luis Manzano, Iya Villana, Nikki Gil, Chino Pio, Bianca Roque, Janine Ramirez and Robin Nievera former MTV VJ, KC Montero also did a guest appearance to present an award.
Girl power is dominant for that night as Asia’s Songbird; Regine Velsquez was awarded the MYX Magna Award for her contributions to the Philippine music industry. The Songbird was given tribute by top singers like Kyla, Mark Bautista, Christian Bautista, Rachel Anne Go and her husband, Ogie Alcasid.

Naging emosyunal ang young singer na si Yeng Constantino sa pagtatapos ng I ♥ MYX Music Awards 2011 kagabi, March 15, sa Music Museum, Greenhills, San Juan City. Si Yeng kasi ang nakakuha ng pinakamaraming awards sa naturang gabi ng parangal ng popular music channel.
Nakuha ni Yeng ang parangal sa ilan sa mga pinakamalalaking kategorya, kabilang na ang Favorite Music Video at Favorite Song.
Suwerte kay Yeng ang awit niyang "Jeepney Love Story," ang pangatlong single niya sa album na Lapit na ini-release noong October 2009. Ito ang nagkamit ng Favorite Music Video at Favorite Song Award.
Natanggap din ni Yeng ang award para sa Favorite Female Artist. Natalo niya sa kategoryang ito sina Sarah Geronimo, Kyla, Juris, at KC Concepcion.
Nanalo rin si Yeng bilang Favorite MYX Celebrity VJ para sa pagho-host nito sa music channel noong November 2010. Bago pa man ang stint niya sa MYX ay nasanay na si Yeng sa paghu-host sa show niyang Music Uplate Live sa ABS-CBN.

[ARTICLE]Sarah Geronimo fails to win any awards at the 6th MYX Music Awards; Yeng Constantino outstands by bagging 5 awards
As MYX Channel unveiled their set of nominees for their 6th MYX Music Awards, many viewers of this music channel predicts that the Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo will lead again as she remarkably victorious for the past years. But for this year, it looks like the votes of her supporters and fans were not sufficient for their ultimate IDOL to win the awards for every category.
Sarah Geronimo was nominated in 4 major categories (Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Mellow Video, Favorite Collaboration and Favorite Media Soundtrack) for the I ♥ MYX Music Awards 2011. Sadly, however, the Pop Star Princess failed to win any of the awards. In fact, as we browse the list of winners last night, we’re shocked to find out that Sarah failed to bag any awards.
Meanwhile, Yeng Constantino outstands this year’s winners by bagging 5 awards including Favorite Female Artist which she beats her contemporary female performers’ Sarah Geronimo, Kyla, Juris, and KC Concepcion. Her monster-hit single “Jeepney Love Story” gives her another two awards, Favorite Music Video and Favorite Song. The remaining two awards bags by the “Rockoustic Princess” are Favorite MYX Celebrity VJ and Favorite Collaboration along with 6 Cycle Mind and Kean Cipriano for the song "Kung Wala Ka Na."

LOSING A FRIEND
Yesterday Yeng lost one of her friend,Paul Medrano, Yeng's former guitarist. Our condolences to the people whom he leaves, may the Lord God almighty be upon you on this time of sudden difficulty in losing someone you love.

Losing a friend is one of the hardest thing we could face in our life. Often times we don't know the reason why suddenly things like this happened. Maybe for one reason, God knows what is impeccable and right for us. I have lost a friend before and I tell you its beyond hurtful. But i know right from that moment I never really lost her, I just have to believe and keep my faith that she's in a better place now, far away from pain and heartaches.

SESSA
waaahh... This is it! This is it! We finally now have an idea about Yeng Constantino and Acel Van Omen's new band! Remember on the last quarter of 2010, Yeng told us about how she felt so excited about her collaboration with Ms. Acel Van Omen in forming a very fresh new pop rock girl band. And yes, today we finally know that it is SESSA! I still don't know why they name it SESSA... (cool name though! i like it! Very astigin! LOL )
OMO.. I'm so excited to hear their demo songs. Last time I checked Yeng will be playing as the bassist of the band! Quite confuse though at SESSA's twit saying "BASSIST! YAN ANG KAILANGAN!"
In the mean time Yengsters, lets enjoy all the itty bitty updates about the new band in the making! :)
